Restoring to Perfection: Moomba Mobius LSV Full Interior Overhaul

There is a certain pride that comes with owning a dedicated wake boat like the Moomba Mobius LSV. These vessels are built for performance and good times on the water, but years of sun, water, and active passengers eventually take their toll on the interior. We recently had the opportunity to bring one of these beautiful machines into the shop for some much-needed attention, proving that even a well-used boat can be brought back to showroom condition with the right care.

The scope of this project was extensive, going far beyond a simple repair or patch job. The owner wanted a comprehensive refresh, which meant we were tasked with reupholstering absolutely every seating surface in the boat.

From the bow to the stern, we stripped down the interior to ensure that every inch of the upholstery was fresh, clean, and ready for many more seasons of reliable service.

In total, our team worked on 24 individual units to complete this restoration. This massive count included every single seat cushion that takes the brunt of the traffic, all the supporting backrests, and the various side panels that complete the cockpit's look. Managing a project with this many moving parts requires careful organization and attention to detail, ensuring that every piece fits back together perfectly once the new vinyl is applied.

For the design direction, we stuck to a philosophy that we often recommend: keeping the design "as is." While custom colours can be fun, there is a timeless appeal to maintaining the original factory aesthetic of a Moomba.

We meticulously replicated the original patterns, stitching lines, and colour blocking to ensure the boat retained its authentic character. The goal was to make it look as if it had just rolled off the assembly line, rather than looking like an aftermarket modification.

This approach requires a high level of craftsmanship, as there is no room for error when you are matching existing lines and contours. We utilized high-quality marine-grade vinyls that are designed to withstand our harsh Canadian elements, from the blazing August sun to the dampness of the water. By combining modern, durable materials with the classic design of the Mobius LSV, we were able to provide the best of both worlds—longevity and authentic style.

The transformation once the 24 pieces were reinstalled was truly remarkable. It is easy to underestimate how much fresh upholstery changes the entire feel of a boat until you see it finished. The crisp lines and taut vinyl instantly erased years of wear, making the cockpit feel inviting and luxurious again. It serves as a great reminder that you do not always need to buy a brand-new boat to get that new-boat feeling; sometimes, you just need to show some love to the one you already have.

We are incredibly proud of how this Moomba turned out and are excited for the owners to enjoy their "new" boat this summer. If your boat interior is looking tired, give us a call at Wyatt Weatherfronts here in Edmonton, and let us discuss how we can get you ready for the water.
